W.A Mozart Fantasy in F minor, K.608
Why the programme…?
We’ve taken this opportunity to explore the power of arrangements!
We begin this all W.A Mozart programme with the overture of his late opera, The Magic Flute (1791/K.620); finishing with the Organ Fantasy in F minor (K.608), written in the same year.
In between is a Lumas favourite, the Divertimento No. 8 in F major (1775/K.213) – see Chris’ ‘Members’ Q&A section for why!
As well as K.617a, the Adagio in C for Glass Harmonica (written… you guessed it, in 1791). These later works are a sign of Mozart at the top of his game, and by exploring the power of arrangements, we hope to pair this music together like you’ve never heard before.
The arrangement of the Glass Harmonica comes with a twist however – Sally Beamish’s very own variations. Written in 2008, offering some light relief from the Mozart!
