All the way back in May 2022, we were delighted to win the Royal Academy of Music’s Historical Women Composer Prize! We would like to thank the supporter and adjudicator of the prize, Diana Ambache. As well as adjudicator Dr Briony Cox-Williams.
It was a joy to perform Elizabeth Maconchy’s Wind Quintet – written in 1980 but largely unplayed since. We had the challenge of only having access to a score. On discovery of which we endeavoured upon writing and copying out our own parts onto manuscript – with success thankfully! It’s a fascinating piece, the composers only wind quintet, and we can certainly say that we have many intentions to perform and promote it in the future.
